Hyena in Petticoats: A Mary Wollstonecraft Zine
This epic 64-page zine is the kind of zine that reaffirms my faith in the endless potential of the zine. It focuses on the fascinating life and work of 18th century feminist Mary Wollstonecraft, author of Vindication of the Rights of Women and mother of Frankenstein author Mary Shelley. Wollstonecraft brought unheard of ideas about women’s rights to the forefront of European society, challenging intellectuals of the era with intelligence that could not be questioned.
The zine also deals with the lives and sordid affairs of her legendary family- a family that includes such famous figures as William Godwin, Mary Shelley, Percy Shelley, and Lord Byron. The author (Alexis Wolf of Ilse Content fame) also takes a pilgrimage to London to learn more about the life and world of Ms. Wollstonecraft.
All totally engaging and educational. Very recommended. 64 Page, Half letter size.
