Read Once and Destroy zine by Julia Eff

$4.00

This zine was advertised as being about music (being disappointed about a band they like signing to Sony, Detroit and the MC5), and death (their relationship with the Columbine shootings as someone who grew up a troubled Goth teen in their aftermath, online murder fandoms and media treatment of mass murderers). Some of the pieces in this zine even straddle these topics, such as their writing about hanging out at Rob Tyner’s grave drinking ice tea.

In addition to these topics, Julia also writes about their daily routine, about the joy and frustration of writing zines, their favourite all-night hamburger joint, about realizing that they’ll never love a partner as much as they love their best friend (YES), and the ignominy of twin-wrapped snack cakes.
